Meticulously Structured Program

The program is meticulously structured to cover a broad spectrum of skills, both specific and general, that are fundamental to leading a fulfilling life. Specific skills encompass functional academics, which equip individuals with essential knowledge and understanding to navigate daily tasks and challenges. Job skills are also emphasized, preparing participants for the world of work by imparting practical knowledge and techniques relevant to various employment opportunities. Additionally, social skills form a crucial component, teaching participants the nuances of social interactions, communication, and relationship-building.

General Success Skills

In addition to these specific skills, Sisu’s program places a strong emphasis on cultivating more general success skills. Independence is fostered by teaching individuals how to manage daily tasks, make informed decisions, and take responsibility for their actions and choices. Social fluency is nurtured through activities and exercises that promote effective communication, understanding of social cues, and the ability to form and maintain meaningful relationships. Furthermore, self-regulation skills are honed, enabling individuals to manage their emotions, cope with stress, and adapt to different situations with resilience and composure.

Pre-vocational and Vocational

The comprehensive nature of Sisu’s program extends beyond just skill development; it also encompasses both prevocational and vocational training. The prevocational training phase is pivotal in understanding and harnessing the trainee’s interests, passions, and strengths. This exploration phase is instrumental in identifying suitable workplace environments or sheltered workshops that align with the specific needs and capabilities of each trainee. By tailoring the training to individual interests and strengths, Sisu ensures that each participant is well-prepared and confident as they transition into the next phase of their journey.

Vocational training forms the crux of Sisu’s program, focusing on equipping individuals with the practical skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to not only secure employment but also to thrive and excel in the workplace. Through hands-on training, workshops, and mentorship, participants learn essential workplace skills, such as teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and effective communication. Furthermore, they are guided and supported in navigating the complexities of the workplace, understanding workplace culture, and building positive relationships with colleagues and supervisors.

Unwavering Commitment

The mission of Sisu is a testament to its unwavering commitment to empowering young neurodiverse adults. Through its holistic, person-centered, and individualized approach, Sisu strives to equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to lead independent, fulfilling, and successful lives. By focusing on both specific and general success skills, and by providing comprehensive prevocational and vocational training, Sisu is paving the way for a brighter and more inclusive future for neurodiverse individuals, where they can thrive, contribute, and be valued members of society.

Sisu Skills Centre focus is

Holistically Supporting Transition from Adolescence to Adulthood

The primary focus of our program is to holistically support neurodiverse young adults as they navigate the crucial transition from adolescence to adulthood. This transitional phase can be challenging for anyone, but it often presents unique obstacles for neurodiverse individuals. Our approach recognizes the multifaceted nature of this transition and aims to address the most significant areas that impact their lives.

Developing Individualised Programs aimed at targeting individual needs

We believe in the power of personalized learning and development. Through careful assessment, observation, and collaboration with the individual and their support network, we design programs that are both relevant and effective. This individualized approach ensures that each trainee receives the support, resources, and opportunities they need to maximize their potential, achieve personal growth, and work towards their goals.

Building Functional Academic Skills, Adaptive Living Skills, and Independence

This includes developing functional academic skills, which equip trainees with the knowledge and capabilities to understand and engage with various academic subjects and practical tasks. Adaptive living skills are also emphasized, teaching trainees how to manage daily responsibilities, such as personal care, household chores, and financial management. Furthermore, our program places a strong emphasis on fostering independence by empowering trainees to make informed decisions, take responsibility for their actions, and navigate the challenges of daily life with confidence and autonomy.

Empowering our Trainees with Prevocational and Vocational Skills

Preparing neurodiverse young adults for the world of work is a central aspect of our program. We believe in the importance of empowering trainees with both prevocational and vocational skills that are essential for career readiness and success in the workplace. Prevocational training focuses on exploring and identifying the interests, strengths, and potential career paths of each trainee. Vocational training, on the other hand, focuses on equipping trainees with the practical skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to obtain, maintain, and thrive in the workplace. This includes training in specific job-related skills, workplace etiquette, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability.

We understand, and we want to make a difference.

In today's complex society, where understanding and catering to neurodiversity is more crucial than ever, Sisu Skills Centre stands out as a beacon of hope and practical assistance.
